Jeff:

Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, thank you for tuning in Episode 83 of the coach. Got some things to get into. I want to get into this halftime Super Bowl halftime shift or like this is a polarizing topic. First we'll give a shout out to a coach a crew. I almost had patrons, I gotta get used to say coach or crew, or what, whatever works. I'm working on a new website. You also I'm gonna put the link on that in the show notes. I'm still working on it. Trying to get the domain name too for but slowly but surely, we will have a website for everything. And also, we forgot to mention because our last week's episode, we did it actually a couple of days before your birthday. So we really get to talk about it. So happy birthday, man. I think you know, tell people how old you is.

Anthony:

Um, how old am I? 41 even

Jeff:

though Yeah, he's

Anthony:

right. What do not have to guess. That's right. That's right. That's right. Yeah. Oh, man. That's the way it's supposed to be. That's what's the diet Jung was clocking the numbers up. I can't say that for other people. But and I'm not trying to die early found need to. So I mean, it was enjoyable. We had a few drinks. And Joseph had little conversations I went to was like Sunday morning, I had breakfast with the family. On the day Murphy had this evening really a chance to do much like the weather wasn't the weather was okay. It just had all the places you want to go to. It was like booked up Valentine's Day people so had shit to do. Then you have the game going on, though. It's a bit much but one big thing. Glad to have enjoyed me alive. So Alright,

Jeff:

so let's get right into it. Man. You talked about the game, the big game, the Super Bowl. And I really care much about the game. You know, Bengals versus rams. It was in California. So obviously it was a big deal. The rams are in in back to back is you know the home team is was hosting the home stadium. Okay. But the halftime show. That's what we really. Were does it next year? I have no idea but I don't think they're gonna do it three years in a row. Imagine that should that should happen where the team makes it. That should be crazy.

Anthony:

I'm about to look it up right now.

Jeff:

If I miss something the home team always wins. Right? Because last year was the Buccaneers.

Anthony:

Oh yeah. Next year. Next year is in Glendale, Arizona. So the Cardinals are no it's not like their trash, trash. They mess around playing a couple pieces. Now the NFL is like that. They don't matter. They still playing the NFC West against the 40 Niners against the Rams not dinner. It's a nice dream, but they're not in the NFC West. That's not happening.

Jeff:

I bet anyway, let's get into the Shipman the halftime show. That's what we all really came to see. And I enjoyed it. Obviously, as a hip hop head as a person who was born in 80s grew up in the 90s this was right down my alley. And it started off you know that they had like a what was like a big ass truck. Like the setup it was your fault. We will get to the unrealistic bullshit, you continue the setup look, the door was like a big ass trailer, some shit with different rooms and there was on top performing whatever. So it started off with Snoop Dogg comes out, because him and Dre performed the next episode. And snoop. Snoop is wearing just picture a Crip flag like the Crip. Bandana, and turn that into an outfit. That's what he had. Well,

Anthony:

I mean, that's just that's just Snoop got in his closet. That's not new. That's classic, Snoop Dogg.

Jeff:

So he's basically gang banging on stage. And he's repping his crypt affiliation real real heavy, crip walking, he was throwing up the fingers and he had the whole outfit on, which was basically a whole crip flag. Cool. Okay, so obviously, you know, that was gonna rub some people the wrong way, or whatever. So they performed the next episode. Then him and Dre or Dre basically himself because he's the only one in the song The California Love. And this is when I was starting to expect surprises that I didn't get.

Anthony:

That wasn't that wasn't gonna happen, man.

Jeff:

When California it wasn't Allah Fornia love came on. I was expecting and hoping for, and even praying for a Tupac Shakur hologram to pop out of nowhere.

Anthony:

It was never going to you can't do it in a stadium. That's the hope. That's the one thing you missed. Whenever they do that hologram thing is always on a stage with a backdrop. So you can have the 2d projection. You're in a gigantic stage. There's no place you can do it. We can see it from all angles. It's always right right in front of you. So how do you do that hologram we can show it 360 around the entire scene, everybody it wouldn't work like I know. You ain't the only one I heard a lot people say they're going to do the two pipe hologram like so it has to be every time you see a hologram but if you put like with big it's only like a flat like it needs a flat surface so it can be projected properly because it's not vertical. It's projected for like the lights point out towards the screen like a movie. And they make it look realistic. But you can't have it in a 3d environment can have an open area to have a do so and to be visible for people on camera and so on so forth. It'd been hard. The only idea that might have been able to But it would look weird. It might look good for the people on TV, but not for the people in the crowd if it didn't, and one of those rooms that they had when they brought in the whole trailer thing if one of those could have been it yet, but you are not the only person that was predicting that two parts are gonna happen.

Jeff:

So you know, that's my first disappointment. And that's my fault because I was expecting something that was my you know, that I guess was unrealistic. Like when you watch a Marvel movie, you're like, Okay, who's gonna come out now and wait for the X men to come out at some you know, that's my fault for expecting some shit to happen. So to park and come up, then you see some dude hanging upside down. And I'm like, Who the fuck is this? At first? I'm gonna tell you know life first. I thought it was little Eazy E. Easy Jr. Then in the club is

Anthony:

Stop stop stop stop stop stop stop. What could be little easy thing and upside down.

Jeff:

tell you why. Because again, my fault. I was expecting some shit. I was expecting some NWA reunion type shit. So when I see this beefy looking character hanging upside down, I didn't think that was 50 I'm like who it is but and in the club comes on. Go go short. It's your birthday. I'm like is that 50? So 50 is hanging upside down like he Batman or something. Then he drops down. He was looking super beefy. He was looking like a whole dollar.

Anthony:

I gotta I gotta complain about that. Man. I got a real real complaint about people saying shit like that. The only thing is like you're talking about like, finger licking kind of thick. Like, let me see what you look like 20 years ago. And let me see what you look like now. And let's see who in better shape 50 Are you like who wins this cop?

Jeff:

We all at least 20 At least 20 pounds. Have your minimum every single one of us.

Anthony:

Most of us more than that. You might want to book I might have bumped it up to 2530 because I might carry your weight well, but you not that. Like he got thicker but it's not like he'd run out like a whole last beer girl and everything else like that. brolic boobs another day. He just he just he just always been a big Stuckey dude,

Jeff:

like, Oh, look at me out big like, look at your mother. Like those waist trainers can only go so far, you know,

Anthony:

I'm saying 15 But he has those back up windows fast. That'd be trying to make them look a little more compressed. Sometimes, you know, talking about the only only waist trainer he ever had was 245 pounds waist. That's

Jeff:

about it. gunho saying he was out of shape. A lot of people were saying he looked fat. Like he just looks like a person who's off his steroid cycle and you know, put on a little bit of fat, but he's still big and strong and brolic looking, you know, I'm saying yeah,

Anthony:

he just looked like like a big strong guy who ever worked a little bit less literally,

Jeff:

is back on a cycle. You know what I mean? He starts injecting again, he's gonna go right back to being ripped.

Anthony:

You're going to fit it with 50 Fuck you. I mean, fuck me up love your music your to die trying to classic

Jeff:

it is. Um, so he did in the club. And I guess that was basically the only real surprise of this whole performance. But he did that one song then. Mary Jay is on top of the trailer. And she starts off with family affair with and I don't know, some people will complain and why she do that song because that song is produced by Dr. Dre, whose fighter was obviously she played that. And if you really look at her history, it's her highest performing. Single Believe it or not it actually you know, so she does a little dance that she does on every single song. It was cool. And then Chrissy can't dance. But she's like Little Kim. I'll compare her to Little Kim. You know, hello, Kim does that one move that

Anthony:

little bottle switch? Oh,

Jeff:

she did that. And then she performed no more drama, which I thought was dope. It was emotional, real positive. This whole thing was positive. You know, besides the whole gang banging that Snoop and Dre be doing all the other songs were like real positive and uplifting, you know, I'm saying. So she did no more drama than Kendrick was next. And he had his whole militant. You know, I'm saying Black Panther type, malicious type set. And he did a mash up of match city and all right. I thought it was fun. That was dope.

Anthony:

Kendrick want a better performance out there. Like he puts on some shit when he decided to put on it. I love Kendrick,

Jeff:

you know, Molly beef with him. And that's not really a beef. You know, I'm saying he centered his anti-police lyrics, you know, which obviously, you know, he had to do. And I'm sure the NFL told him like, Yo, don't be saying no curse words. Don't be saying anti police rhetoric. Don't do you know, so he censored his anti police lyrics. But Dre didn't. When Dre did his song he ain't he said, You know, I'm still not loving police, which I guess is not as vulgar or as violent. You know, I'm saying that saying like, Fuck the police or something like that. Oh,

Anthony:

well, trust me. I have something to say about all the

Jeff:

news finish off. And then, and I have reservations about this. They left and I know you did too. And I'm an Eminem fan. I know you're not but they left the white boy for basically as the last person and I'm like, okay, they're in California. This is Snoop Kendrick and Dre territory. Why is Eminem basically the main event um, say why is he the final person to perform but whatever he rises up like he was the undertaker some comes out the trailer and he performed a little bit of forgot about Dre you know, paying homage to the man who made nowadays everybody wants to talk I think I'm gonna say but it comes out when they move the LIBS it's a bunch of gibberish and motherfuckers act like they forgot about Dre boom. Then he goes into the lose yourself, which again and again. lifting song is probably the most uplifting song he's has on his catalogue.

Anthony:

The funniest thing I heard about that they said that lose yourself is white people's dreams and nightmares. And I have not stopped laughing every time I every time I hear that I laugh so much in my head because it's fucking true. Make Saturday dreams and nightmares. Can we be like, oh, wait a minute. They put a loser so why people like ah, like, come on. It is it really is so hilarious when I hear it now. And now you're coming here Lucifer

Jeff:

on that panel. Come on, don't dump them. And then when he comes on, you see moflo you see why boys in the gym with the headphones on like punch and shit like, yeah, so put on more blame. Fuck, so he does lose yourself. And then this was the most polarizing part of the whole shit. He takes a knee. Right? But while he takes a knee, Dr. Dre is playing some Tupac shit on the piano. So some people are saying, Oh, he doing the callin Kaepernick knee or some people were like, Nah, he was just paying respect to two pockets. He was on the panel. Oh, no. But then reports come out that the NFL had told them to not kneel or not, you know not to do anything controversial like that. Eminem said, Fuck that. I'm still gonna kneel. Whatever. And I saw a meme going around online that people was like, Yo, you know, get off Eminem for Neil. And you know, his arms is weak. His knees is weak and his arms are heavy.

Anthony:

There's vomit on his sweater already. Mom's spaghetti. He's nervous. So

Jeff:

and then and then again, I try to get myself up again. Because I said Dre is on the piano doing Tupac song like, Okay, this is when the Tupac hologram is about to come out. Let it go didn't come out. I'm like, okay, is he gonna play some NWA sheet and we're gonna see Eazy E Jr. and ice cube come out and do some straight out of Compton, the crazy mother named HQ, or Fuck the police and have the NFL shut the whole shit down. None of that happened. Obviously. That was kind of disappointing. Okay, whatever. But when you hit a piano when you when Dre gets on the piano, you automatically know what was coming it goes guy starts like what some keys again? Because I know. I mean, obviously he created that B but I know he actually could sit on a piano and play it. So he played it a little

Anthony:

bit. No, he made the beat. But the key to wrapping our whole song on are those piano keys it's got. Okay, that the keystroke that you always hear? That's why I'm like that's why I've made that joke. He taught him how to fire up like like like a flat right? Didn't Yeah, okay, I think Scott clay

Jeff:

did it a little bit. He only did it for like 510 seconds. And then he hopped on stage and finished it off with him and Snoop Dogg doing the still Dre representing for the gangsters all across the world. And I'm calling them low lows girl Gi. And then that was that and then they all stand there together. It was it was dope. I liked it. I'm not gonna go as far as to say it was the best Superbowl halftime show of all time because you still got you still got the Michael Jackson's you still got you know, I'm saying you still got to be honest. These are the worlds and the Bruno Mars. They all put on great performances. Is it up there for beginners poly? You know Polly top five for me. It was only like 12 or 13 minutes so I thought it could have been a little bit longer. I was I wanted more. I was like that's it is over. I was like damn, I felt like I could I could have a little five more minutes or some because I you know, I felt like it wasn't enough.

Anthony:

The NFL don't change for shit. Halftime is 15 minutes.

Jeff:

They still had time. They only went like a good 12 minutes.

Anthony:

They did what they had to do. I was surprised that it did. They did California loves it. Nothing but a G thing. I like

Jeff:

the phone up there in California. So you know they got to play that one.

Anthony:

Right. But you're talking about the essential part of like, okay, alright, so we can start talking about things and I

Jeff:

was thinking I was like damn, Tupac don't got no kids, and then I could come out and do his verse. No, he never had kids out on bail fresh out of jail, California. Like I wanted to hear that shit, you

Anthony:

know? No, he's dead. Let it go. He's got no kids. No, he's dead. People saw was easy. But he got kids that could have came on and did some shit. But anyway, NWA was never going to be there because just like you said, we're going back all of us, though. Don't know the whole the police. Right? Kendrick can't say that because Kendrick rich, Drake sad because Dre is wealthy. Like this. The single fuckup Dre says that it's not gonna fuck up raise money at all. What Kendrick? Like you're like you're rich. Like you're you're probably eight figures like Dre is what he's been a billionaire. I don't know if he still isn't not especially after divorce. No, but he's nine figures very high. Not because he's never gonna go poor again. He's donated to USC, they built shit with him and Jimmy iving he's wealthy. Kendricks, rich, rich people can kind of sort of get away with that ship. Not really, Dre can say that. And that's why Eminem could take a knee because m&ms wealthy, he's never going to go broke, no matter what he says and what he does before. So that's what he did. That's why you could take that knee but it needed they needed.

Jeff:

I'll tell you that. You can tell me if you agree. None of these motherfuckers are getting invited back to no Superbowl. Mary cuz she wasn't really controversially, but I'll tell you right now, none of them getting invited back anytime soon.

Anthony:

It was a one time thing probably, but the whole thing is like, unless it's going to be in the East Coast anytime soon, it's just not that rich history where everything kind of coincides the history and identity of West Coast hip hop, having Dr. Dre having to in a brand new stadium and a brand new place. I mean, for what it really was. It was kind of vanilla it was basic hip hop, which I expected to be showing the essence of it there wasn't going to show you everything about the west coast because when they tried to really explain the thing that's goes on out there. People know a little bit about it, like people's vision about like snip snooping is a it's crip crip I guess couture whatever. Nick, he grew up in LA it's like it's like gang banging out there is just some shit that he do man it's a lifestyle like I know people who have grown up in the city like their their mothers and their brothers and their sisters. Like they they bang they sit they bang that's it it's part of who they are. Some people like oh my God, why is he up the crib? Welcome to like shit that's what they do in LA like crip walking is no murder murder gang gang shit like that. It's a lifestyle it's what they literally groomed into like people are so weird like some people like third generation harvest and some people like third generation Crips it's it's a weird comparison to say out loud, but that's how it is.

Jeff:

And I felt like be mafi want to I felt like they could have had the game instead of doing it in the club that could have had him and 50 in the game come out and do it. You know hate it or love it. It's not controversial. It's a positive uplifting song.

Anthony:

Absolutely not actually he's from Cali all five of those people up there superstars games on Superstar? Yes, he has no place to hate it or love it as a hit. He has no place up there. IceCube has a better chance of being up there than game ever will.

Jeff:

So I guess you'll probably gave us so your argue the same thing about like, let's say having iced tea come out or Cypress Hill or somebody like that who's also from Cali, you probably they're not big enough.

Anthony:

Iced tea would be because of his importance to hip hop, Cypress Hill, probably so yeah, because of what they are to hip hop. But the whole thing about having someone like the game of them, like from one everything that he's been doing and saying lately, it's like super problematic, so you don't want to mess up there at all. And the other thing that it comes down to like you up there with 5050 birth to you you up there with Drake Drake birth to you, like all the people above you, there are legit superstars. Like if there was a concert featuring any one of them by themselves, millions of people buy tickets, and if there was a concert just with game only would you go probably not exact cuz he's not a fucking

Jeff:

plus. His whole first album, which is to me is a classic The documentary but half of the shit is just 50 cent. You know, I'm saying, isn't it? Yeah, his best songs are with 50 cent and Eminem. And I'm like, he can do a concert by himself.

Anthony:

Yeah, I'm like an argument. You're like games, not a superstar games a rap star. He's not a superstar to that level. Because if everybody put on TV, someone inside of your household knew who he was, if you put on game didn't play? Well, who's this guy?

Jeff:

So did you like the super halftime show? Because I did.

Anthony:

For it's a big, it's a big plus, what it is

Jeff:

now old white folks, you know, they're calling it the worst show ever. And older people hate it in general. Like, if you're above 50, I would say maybe above 50. You hated it. You know, the Gen Z or the younger demographic data? polyene care about it? You know, I didn't even know these people were. So I would say this was more for like the 30 to 50 demo. You know, like the like the Gen. X or them are millennials like us, you know, I'm saying we loved it. Okay, people younger than us, and people older than us. Like, fuck, fuck that rap that gangster shit. And then the young folks are pie like, Who are these old folks, you know, I'm saying Where's Little Yachty or whoever they listen to, you know? So I don't know.

Anthony:

But you know what it means for just hip hop in general for a whole lot. So, no matter what anybody says to have those individuals when they say together, like it's like not on any radio seat, like on the Super Bowl stage. You can't tell me anybody hip hop, whatever, think that there will be a show where it's primarily focused on about hip hop, period, maybe there have been time with it and hip hop acts on there. But not a whole show. A whole show. No, anyone's ever seen that come into the line. It's not the truth, but to have that there to have all of them there. To prove that you know, you know, even if you can plan to buy like like hip hop's on a national stage like the whole world is seeing this right here right now. means more than anything else like to me like that's, that's the biggest takeaway from it. Like, like, it's the point where Hip Hop fully legitimate come mainstream, because there's nothing more important a sense of Fortune entertainment for I will say white people, that is doable. Like it's the one thing that people watch. It means that means every single year, this one game, and it's everybody, so to have that there and for them to be the main stars of the show blank. Oof. This this is groundbreaking.

Jeff:

Yeah, it was groundbreaking. I thought it was impactful powerful. I think we feel you know, for the little 10 1215 minutes I felt like we needed that like the country needed that you know, I'm saying like I said it was uplifting Eminem told us you know, lose yourself in the moment. You know, Mary was was telling us you know, to stop Being a hater and you know no more drama you know, I'm saying it was positive it was a positive message overall. But let's take a quick break because when we come back I want to get into it a little bit more and tell you what it really meant to me what I felt like the Superbowl like symbolized Okay. Unknown:

They represent a culture that represent like the culture podcast.

Jeff:

Alright, so the Super Bowl halftime show. It was polarizing. It was entertaining. It wasn't controversial, I don't think. But to me what it was the whole show was more than a show it was it was social commentary, on racism on everything. I think a shine a light on the division in this country. It was a microcosm of the national divide that exists. Like I said, you have the young versus the old, the blacks versus the whites, you know, Gen X and millennials versus Gen Z. You know what I'm saying? Like you had, that's how I felt when I was when I That's how I felt when I was I was like, Yo, I love this shit. But then I go online, and you see some of the people that don't like it. Some of the people talking shit about it, you know, the racism, everybody that I saw online that said it didn't like it, we're all white. And I'm not saying that all white people are racist, or that all white people hated it. I'm just saying that the people, everybody that I heard say that they didn't like it, we're all white. You know what I'm saying?

Anthony:

But, like, I understand that bag, but it's it's a whole thing that you get from people of color when they pull, you know, YouTube or rolling stones that they asked, I'm like, this ain't me. This ain't my music. But the older gets older, whiter stones, and they love it like this is the sound of their generation. And that was the sound of ours. So it's not really much to complain about. Sometimes people just want to complain for the sake of complaint, it was a fucking thing to complain about. Like it's bad. Yeah. I think that bad. No, I mean, it's like, it's music. Like if, like, it's a halftime show, right? If you don't like it, like, this is your moment to turn to something else. And, you know, go grab some more wings or get some drink. Like, you don't got to pay attention to it. You just choose to because you want to have something to say. But sometimes having nothing to say is fine at all. Like, did you watch a halftime show? Like no, it wasn't my thing. I didn't watch it. I've been to so many Super Bowls like that, where they had some artists that I had no interest in. And I just didn't watch it. I just did something else. I'll talk them somewhere else. We played a hand in spades and shit like that. But it wasn't like I had to watch it didn't have some kind of commentary on it. We're in a generation where everyone did say something about everything. But sometimes the best thing to say is just nothing. If it doesn't interest you. It doesn't intrigue you leave it alone. And it's always never this complaint. And

Jeff:

this is what made it more polarizing to me when the when the politician start talking about it. This is limited. We read an excerpt from Giuliani, former mayor you Giuliani fat fucking racist, totally

Anthony:

policing this nigga jail, please. So he says

Jeff:

this quote, he said, let's get right to Eminem taking a knee. There's one radio show. Why doesn't he go to another country? I mean, go take a knee someplace else. You know how many cops were defending him and protecting him at that game? I mean, crime is way out of control in Los Angeles. He thinks that all happened because everybody loves them in them. The simple reality is the NFL has made a mockery of law enforcement particularly with its support for the cop killing black lives matter if you don't shut your racist ass up.

Anthony:

See but all you love buddies yell at me so I'm I'm bracing like, I'm not I'm telling you I just call people out on their bullshit. It's things like this that are irritating as much you sit behind that man his campaign and let them people go ahead and try to take over the country by storm in the capital. But then you have a problem with someone white trying to take a knee. Which I really think Eminem did that. To go forward to this point, like the fact that Eminem did that. It just irritates me. It's stupid. Because it wasn't a surprise. It was at the point everybody knew. And then they were like, don't do it. But again, he's wealthy. I mean, he's like, I'm gonna do what I want. And he's white. I'm gonna do what I want. And that's exactly what he did. He should have the only person should have told us Dre like this is what I'm going to do don't tell a soul going about America, it would have been more impactful. The fact that people knew that he was going to do and we're kind of waiting for him to do it like to kind of say that he's standing up for people seem kind of patently like, like ridiculous to me. But if you want to take a bold statement, because he's up there, like rocking with the hoodie on unzip the hoodie and have one like a Black Lives Matter shirt, or a Colin Kaepernick jersey, something like that. Somewhere like, okay, it took me but this was a surprise, like, you're not throwing me off. You're not telling me anything new. It's frustrating when people have these conversations about people and trying to be performative about racial injustice, or the societal problems that we have. And they always are like, well, y'all did this. Stop doing that finger point shuts up. The thing is like, they're they're Boogeyman. They always want to bring up black lives matter like, like their police hate, like, they never said that one time they want police reform, so you stop killing people of color. Literally, I cannot remember the woman's name because it escapes me. There was a woman who was a cop who was pulling them a man in a car. And they were by the tussle real quick. And she was supposed to going for a taser. She didn't go for a taser. She got a gun. She shot the guy. They only gave that woman two years in prison. It's shit like this, if that's why we got to do is perform things like take a knee and put up a black face and wear black lives matter shirt because I guess messaging and branding are the only things you guys understand and respect because I'm telling you ain't making a difference. So Eminem taken a knee right there was important. Yeah. But the whole thing is that once everybody knew what the plan was time for you to come up with a different plan, if you really want to make your voice heard him knows this, but he still kind of went along with the plan, which is kind of irritating me.

Jeff:

And then Trump comes out and he calls Eminem, l&d generous. He compared her to him to LNT Jana, I didn't get the reference. I mean, maybe you could shine a light on it.

Anthony:

I have no idea. I don't know. I don't know what that man told him. I will be a traitor to his regime. And then they always talking in code, man, talk to me, not at me. And

Jeff:

then Giuliani also took shots at Snoop Dogg. He called him Snoop, kill police Doggy Dog. He said just a few days ago, he put out a song. If that's what he does. To me. He's kind of like, and then he mumbled some, you know, he uses the N word and dirty I don't even understand him. So you know, it doesn't have a big effect on me. The only way I knew the lyrics of his songs, kept using the N word and kept encouraging people to kill police officers was because somebody gave me the lyrics. I would not have been able to understand a word that he said.

Anthony:

Wow. So he had no understanding no context. But someone mentioned death and police like oh man kind of talks about it. He's had a 20 plus year career and you want to tell me his 20 plus years, all he's talked about was was basically being a murderous Basset. And the thing is that Dre is up there starting on the show, right? Him and Him IceCube Lilly came out with a song called Natural Born Killers where they're killing everybody is conveniently forgot about Deli. He's outgrown that. No, no, he did that. But you can't bring him shit Snoop did. I mean I mean, Snoop beat a murder trial. Like they said he killed somebody and they found him innocent. Like he's been through every aspect of law. Like we've talked about before off the mic. Like he's, he's basically going to be our generation's Martha Stewart. He's on every fucking thing. Like, people love him, like, still almost a universal appeal from all sides of the spectrum. white people, black people, any other people of color. When I say gay by LGBTQ communicating well, they seem like crazy about them. But Snoop to snoop he just a cool guy who gets highlight and just talks about things and just He's everywhere. So the fact that Giuliana got a problem with him and you take the time to go fix them bottom teeth and go forward from there ever seen his bottom teeth? Yeah.

Jeff:

And you've seen him sweat that black hair dye he'd be sweat.

Anthony:

That man would try to get a Beijing try to get his his his hairline, right. And all of a sudden, he's got hot one day and start sweating it out. Like, oh, this is stupid, man. He's, he's terrible. He has to go to prison. He please and leave as much but he has to go to prison. Seriously, he's

Jeff:

got it on. Since we're staying on the topic of politics. I'm gonna need Candace Owens to shut the fuck up about Lebron James. And, you know, I'm not even a LeBron James fan. I'm not a LeBron James defender. But when it comes to this shit, man, they need to just stop. And this is what Candace Owens said, may I put you somewhere? Please come to Philly. Because that's one of the things you know, that was one of the knocks on Jordan. He was never a spoken on political or social issues. You know, I'm saying but LeBron is. LeBron never shies away from talking about shit that's happening, you know, especially when it pertains to blacks. So this is what Candice Owens was saying. I usually go after LeBron because it's important for him with the platform that he has. Just to be clear, I think LeBron is a well meaning person. And I don't think LeBron means to do bad but I just don't think he is that smart. I really do. I think LeBron is low IQ I heard him speak about issues and he is just so wrong. He carries an arrogance with him that is hard when you are being called the king. And he is an incredible talent, there is no doubt about that. If you're not educated about something, you shouldn't speak about it, I would rather for him to be quiet than telling his people a lie. He needs to do the work of actually becoming educated about these issues. And it's not hard, it really isn't hard to look up data and to look up the facts with a man of his kind of money. He doesn't even have to look up data because someone can hand him a list of bullet points. Hey, this is what is going on in American society. And she went on and on like, Yo, what's up with this chick,

Anthony:

man? I'm sorry, man. Oh, you know why we bringing that to them? I'll let you speak.

Jeff:

Call Hall cons of name, but then I might be you know, I might sound racist or something.

Anthony:

Along Josie nigga we cool. I don't matter. Like, that's fine. The problem. The problem with her she's trying to equate wealth with intelligence. I know, I've known some pretty well off people that are pretty stupid, like money, who's got money, don't make it smarter. It's happening to hit the right thing at the right time. We're gonna get past some smaller points here. He's called King because his last name was James last name wasn't James, it would probably be something else. Like his King James works, the Bible thing, blah, blah, blah. The fact that people are misinformed, so on and so forth. I mean, that's a cute thing to say. But in reality, that's pretty much what Fox News is based upon misinformation from people you think are smart are saying they're wrong and incorrect things all the time. And they just let that fly in, like, Oh, this is cool. This is okay. Like, because it's a television show. And it's a news network is supposed to be informative. Even they get it wrong, really, really often. The other thing that she's trying to say is like, you know, why don't you have people go out and do this stuff for you? Because just because you have those people in place to do it for you doesn't mean they're going to do it right, either. You have things to talk about saying that demand is low IQ. I mean, he didn't go to college, but not that Bill Gates. I mean, he didn't get a few degrees, but he's out here building schools, and he's sending kids to college. He's further along another generation behind him and doing the right inappropriate things. So I'm like, what you're what are you, I'd like to use him to take a test or something like that to prove his IQ, because that doesn't make any sense to me. Like the thing that he's done. And the thing that he's shown they show their brilliance, you don't have to be creatively booksmart or brilliant like that, to say that someone has to have this this massive IQ, like it's having your emotional intelligence to be aware of what's going on in the world around you things of that nature. Like I said, when the thing happened with Trayvon Martin, it was him that got all the heat plans to come together and put those hoodies on and tilt their heads. Now. It's not the act of Superman, this act of very calculated man who knew exactly what he's doing exactly the message he wanted to portray, and exactly what he was saying, without really saying anything at all. That's not a sign of stupid man to build a school for, for kids to get them off to college, and a sign of a Superman. He knows what he wants. He wants a generation behind me to go further to do things to be things that he never could. He's using his wealth, his famous power to actually uplift his people and push people forward. But she comes on here and just feels like she has to say something. But in times again, sometimes saying nothing is the best thing if you're not aware of what you're talking about. It's okay to say nothing but since she's a talking head and she's just a puppet for other people, she can't help herself whenever something comes out native out black people but she's got to say something to put us right on back down. And we just keep on smiling and keep on laughing and straw right? The footpath there as I keep on pushing forward the thing that we want to do to improve our families to improve our communities, to better ourselves to create a better life for others and for ourselves. If she ain't going to be a part of the she's gonna be a part of it, but I wouldn't expect anything less to her but her you know, rare radical, boring New Yorkers babble so good for Kansas. We're having a little spotlight. Yeah,

Jeff:

I was gonna ask you Do you think she's racist? But I guess I think she is.

Anthony:

Because she she's always the right person at the wrong time. Every time that's her. It's like we need some negotiators for us to be going through the mind coming through. Come on Candice, like just pull out the rafters real quick. Let us say a little words and put it back up there like she's not important they keep making her try to be important. Like saying you got to stop being a pump for these people to speak for yourself. If this is how you feel. Just stick on that side. Don't don't slide your bass back over when the cookout Come on. I'm saying to stay right where you are that they treat you sideways. That's the the lot you putting in to stay there. But every time someone comes up with black people, they will cancel and get her perspective because she's black because she wouldn't say things that white people want to say but it needs to come out of a black mouth in a white one. So here you go candidacy to speaking points. And go ahead so I don't know what it says about her IQ but this is just par for quote for her.

Jeff:

Would you consider her Akun? Oh, yeah.

Anthony:

Easy, easy. Because I mean, I understand like, she's on that coolness. Clarence Thomas is on that list. The few other select ones now like it's not like I always give people the benefit of the doubt. But when you come constant Throw in a lot with people that never if the chips were down would it ever come to your defense? Yeah, that's who you are like, like this is a real fucked up comparison to make. It's like our Kelly. I know what he did wrong. I'm super where we did it wrong. And I have have no qualms saying that there are people because like I said, when you when you're so protective of yours, sometimes you get blinded by it. That would defend that mentalist Day, which makes zero sense to me could lead to sexual assault against a child or minor is a crime and he committed that crime. It's pretty much straightforward. But like, I'm gonna play his music, I'm still gonna love our killing, like, alright, the support goes a little bit too far. Sometimes people of color like we we'd be really having a bathroom probably shouldn't be really having your back. But think what Candice Owens that's just weird like this. If you want to stay in that side of the brick use data, we got nothing to do with you. Let me ask you a question, since we're talking about this and it kind of department to my head. And actually man too, because I know he's so supportive because I don't even have a completely different ego swinger towards a mutual I'm okay with that, as a matter who's interested in start, who's my man as much as when I start talking to him? You know, how we've had discussion not too long ago how people, many people, like, love and adore Putin, and his place where he should be in hip hop. So 1245 Alright, stick with that. Does it lessen his career or listen him as a person or anything else like that? Knowing that there's a videotape of him because witness life upon you mean? Right, right. But do you still feel

Jeff:

actually have that I bought that DVD that she had put out, because I really needed to see to see for myself? I watched it with Wi Fi and I was like, Ah, shit, why? Why would she put this out? You know, I'm saying, like, the man has been dead for 20 years and you obviously want to make money off of him still, because that's all you have is his, you know, his music and his merchandise. You can make shirts, you know, they talked her her son, they talked about how they were homeless and shit. So I just didn't understand why she would put the shit out. And I think that's one of the beefs that Fat Joe has had with her too over the years like, you know, why would you put my man's business out like that and I get it, you know, obviously domestic violence I'm not condoning it at all is fucked up. That he would do that, you know, he would have a few drinks and he would just you know, be his kids be his wife whatever the case was. I just didn't understand why she would put that out. I guess that was her way of you know, money grab real quick and we'll make these DVDs and put these out make a quick buck. But I thought it hurt her more in the long run. I thought that you know for the long haul at the end of the day, I think it hurt her more than it helped

Anthony:

him. Right but it her hurt. But do you think it lessened his legacy

Jeff:

I've battled with this idea. And you know we talk about guys like our Kelly and you've even I'm not saying you defended him but you've defended his music even on and I've told you that Yeah, we don't talk about our Kelly here. We don't represent his music. We don't play his music. And you'd be like yeah, and you've told me that yo, but his music is bomb you know, I'm sure his music Islam and has nothing to do with the person you don't I mean, the person and the music are two different things. And I feel like you could do that here too. You could we do that a lot with athletes. This football players that'd be punching a woman in the face knocking them out all types of crazy shit, you know, dog fighting. And you know, we give them chances. Michael Vick, you know, I mean, we gave him a second chance. I feel like everybody deserves a second chance. Right? That benefit of the doubt right? He's obviously he's not around to defend himself or to say his story or to apologize and say like, look, I was fucked up. You know, had a few drinks. I got violent when I drank you know, whatever his excuse would have been but he's not around to tell it. You know, I'm saying so I can't really judge I don't like judging a melee I've told you about this with the whole Michael Jackson shit. To this day. There's people still suing him in his estate for shit that he supposedly did 20 3040 years ago. If the man is not around to give me his side of the story or to defend himself I don't I who am I to judge somebody you know, I'm saying I don't I don't like I don't like doing that. So with the whole punk thing, maybe a little bit to some people it might tarnish his legacy but I think in the overall scheme of things I think it is not because if you like Kim is going to be because of his music. Not because what he did you know his personal life. As the same way with Dr. Dre, which we consider Dr. Dre one of the best ever the chronic is one of the best albums of all time. He used to beat all women all day every day. You know, I'm saying how many women haven't come out say they got beat up by Dr. Dre. We don't do we use that against them. We don't even really mentioned that shit.

Anthony:

Exactly. And I like it and it's not any kind of offense to anybody. It's just that we're going to the reason I brought it up because I want to swing it back to Super Bowl. Every single artist up there has had some kind of designated red flag in their past Dre with domestic violence snoot with the the murder charge, marry with the theme of her divorce, like there was literally things she said like, like my divorce was so bad, like I had to go out and perform just to pay rent. Eminem with the N word thing and the whole thing about being a white savior and hip hop 50 in his violent lyrics and violent past. Maybe kindred might might have been the safest one up there, which is weird, but yeah, probably so but they all have that but they're all up there performing. That's the whole thing. Why I kind of thought of the question about that. It's like, we take so much trying to define someone's past, but if they if they have shown own a clear proof that they have grown beyond that, are we going to hold against it? That's why the Candace Owens things bothers me because she's every time something happens, it's always her. They always bring her ass up there every single time, when there's something regarding the matters of race, not knowing that the people that are behind her if the chips were down, probably would not have her back. And the other thing is more than anything else is like, Why are you speaking for them when they should speak for themselves? Dre tried to apologize on that. When a document he had with him about him and Jimmy IV and about what happened between him and Dee Barnes right. There I was while I was drunk, I was like, the stupid shit I did. I'm so sorry. Like the apologetic. He knew what he did. He knew what happened. And and that was the thing in a situation like this. I mean, even Snoop was like he was apologetic about things that occurred is passed on so forth. But but the thing we always let these things slide, he's apologized to people and was apologized for de bars. But he's always denied the Mishlei accusations.

Jeff:

He's never apologized for that shit.

Anthony:

Yeah, that's the funny thing about domestic violence. If no one else sees it, besides those two people, there's only two stories like he was at a party. And that happened. So it's different. The thing with Michelle is proper and private. A lot. I know a lot of women who've gone through domestic disputes in their and domestic violence in their own lives, that people don't believe because again, it's behind closed doors. And the person that they wit and I mean, it's, you know, on both sides, male and female, that their partner is always seen as the angelic one, the perfect one that was like, Oh, he or she did this, oh, they would never do that I like every time I see him, they seem so happy and caring and Joe jovial. And they're always attentive, and they're, everybody likes them, like, Yeah, but once we leave this party, you don't fucking take a swinger meal, when we leave this party, she's going to yell at me or throw a shoe at me or try to hurt me because I was talking to somebody and she got jealous. These are things that that we don't see. The difference is that in the open spaces that we've talked about in the media, so and so forth, with people that cancel with the performance and everything else like that, with Pon with our Kelly, we're seeing the performance, and we're thrilled, and we're enthralled about what these people can do. But we know the different dirt in them. And we we always try to play this game with ourselves, like what's allowable and what's not, like, say all this performance on stage had some issues with them, but they got over it. So we're kind of allowing it, but that's why I said it. Like I'm not next year, I think the year after the Super Bowl is going to be in New Orleans, right? Would you put Master P up there?

Jeff:

I mean, I think he's safe nowadays.

Anthony:

Would you put Lil Wayne up there?

Jeff:

I don't know if I'll put Wayne up there. Right. And

Anthony:

that's, and that's the tricky part that we run into. It's dealing with the issues of someone's past and we put them on a particular stage. Can we do that? The reason why they always go those old rock and roll events, even though they have their own kind of sordid past with sex, drugs and rock and roll to a degree is because they're in grayned into American history. We know who they are. We know that music not us, particularly, but them. You know what I mean? So it's okay. But that's why people got bent out of shape by this one because like, as much as you guys might want to fight against it. This is the generation of music that your children have grown up with, that your grandchildren have grown up with, you know, speaking specifically, someone like Kendrick. This is what music history is now. And I don't necessarily think that is racist. I think they just vehemently disagree with it. Because the pushback and what they've always know, they've always known these classic rock and rollers to come out there and so on and so forth. And like the I remember for two boys only time really so black people that we sang the national anthem than the rest of it with a white show, like a star promise. It's like it's a way to world in words like Chris Rock said,

Jeff:

It's all right. If it's all white, if it's all white. But I think like you said we also we make up what we can and can't look past you know, I'm saying like there's certain things we are forgivable like beating up your wife unfortunately, you know, that's become forgivable domestic violence. And then there's things like our Kelly where it's not forgivable, obviously, you know,

Anthony:

you know, you know, how weird is for you to say that out loud. It is I know it's true, but it's so

Jeff:

that's how that's how society has made it. We've made it so that certain things we look away on or we forgive and and certain things, you know, obviously, you know, sexual abuse on minors or you know, child pornography and things like that, obviously, that's not forgivable at all. Right, but we've made other things forgivable like domestic abuse, which shouldn't be forgivable either, but we'll you know, we'll look past draping of women. We certainly looking past our Kelly molesting kids.

Anthony:

Yeah, we're kind of in the weird thing about the Kelly thing that people are kind of CO conspirators in it. It's not the fact that like, you know, the whole music thing. Okay. This is the parallel I'm going to make our Kelly an NFL it's going to become a little bit this Hear me out. The thing with our Kelly with me, like I said, I grew up in AP music. I know his music. Like I said earlier this week, the 15th I think there was the first session between music solo child and Anthony Hamilton. It was really good. Probably because he saw a try I want you to have better hits, Anthony just sings a lot better he just a really great singer. So whenever the idea of verses comes up, people always bring up like our Kellet, who can face our Kelly who could face our Kelly. And it's like, it doesn't make me dismissive in regards to his music as an instance, like, because of this would happen, I can no longer listen to his music, I listened to it less, just because of everything that occurred, it's definitely not my rotation the way it might have been maybe 10 years ago, it's just, it's just not it just, it just doesn't hit the same, especially being aware of knowing and seeing these people come forward about all the things that he's done. And like, if I hear it, I'm not going to immediately turn it off. Like if it's something that just meant to me a particular time. And I got like, you know, I remember this song and I was just girls when it made me feel real good at someone's forefront, like ooh, but he molest young ladies and make some sex leaves, I'm not gonna turn it off. Like, it's my emotional connection to a song is completely different. But I don't like to perform in the back aspect of it, people offer something like, you know, we should just stop playing all of his music, okay, like I'm saying, as a radio station to take that stand. But as an individual, it's your own personal choice. It's kind of a thing with the NFL in regards to this excuse, quote, unquote, Eminem controversy. People are performative when they choose to be like Eminem didn't have to take a knee, there's other ways that he could have kind of gone about it, that would have been great. I think another issue that comes into is like, I don't want to hear like black people, people color complaining about like, what was going on with Brian Flores. And the the way that the NFL is treating black coaches and so on, so forth. Yeah, you say that. But again, it's performing because like, at that time, I, what you're doing is wrong, you shouldn't be treating black coaches like that, but you're still going to want to vote because it's gonna be black performance. Don't watch it at all. But at that point, you made that choice. But now once you're done, like, Okay, I'm not gonna watch anymore, don't be performed Don't be what you want to be, or need to be at a particular time. You have a ground new standard and be that person and be that way. They do that shit too often, like everyone's complaining about that halftime show, and so on and so forth. You have the ability to turn the TV off, if there's a product or something that you don't want to support because of their, their their racial politics, something else that degree, you don't have to buy that product. You don't have to watch that show. You have to do anything with it. But people I know, I know that people legit upset about the lawsuit that Brian Flores was was putting forth and so on and so forth. They still watch that halftime show, because they entertained them at that time. He didn't have to. So don't be a sideways person. Just it's your narrow that makes no floors just got hired by the Steelers. And matter of fact, I talk. I talk to my dad about that. I said that was the only place he would go. Yeah, not not not because of Mike Tomlin being black. I said they, they lost a definitive linebackers coach, he was a really good defensive coach when he was in New England. That's what got him the job in Miami. It fits right in Pittsburgh, because when you're a defensive assistant like that, you're never going to be in front of them. Like you're what a coach when the press conference time comes. He knows how to handle it. And you're on a team where literally, the rule that's supposed to get more minority candidates interviewed and hired is the Rooney Rule, which is from the Pittsburgh Steelers. So yeah, but

Jeff:

somebody might be creating history. I mean, when was the last time somebody was employed by the same organization that they're suing saying, like, his checks are gonna say NFL on them, and he's suing them

Anthony:

every day. It's, it's, believe it or not, there's probably people well, especially with union jobs. There are people in their offices like suing like their employees right now they're still gainfully employed because they had to go through the whole process of the courts and everything else like that. They might make their life a little bit more difficult, but though they're still hard, firing him or not to that thing, if he didn't get a job and only makes the NFL case look worse, so it's kind of a win win for both of them. He stays employed, but if he's out here because he's calling about injustice in regards to hiring of minority candidates, and he don't got a job. It makes his case look stronger. They probably glad he got some we can do that shit against us. We good to go. Let's figure this all out in court. I don't know it's a funny thing. People are actually more pissed off the fact that the NFL hired Loretta Lynch to be the defense against this this case than anything else like they feel they put they put in a black woman against a black man. I'm staying at this it's kind of iffy but I mean, she's a lawyer. They don't the only color they care about is green. Don't worry about him being black if it was anybody else over there, and they picked her it would be different but because black on black they tried to make a thing out of it like just the legal process. They think she's the best hired she tried charging the most money so fuck it let's go to war.

Jeff:

And before I close out I just wanted to get your take on Bone Thugs and harmony and the dog pound forming a quote unquote supergroup called the dog pound dog pound

Anthony:

I'm letting you know right now if you bring that shit up on the show and want to talk about your mother Find yourself a new co host what I'm letting you know right now it's a terrible idea. No one cares about any of the above didn't vote those lilies are standing that smoke that stayed act like assholes and get smoked by three six mafia. Right everyone talking about a Bone Thugs gonna come on board like both attacks like for some of us wanting people to like both are gonna hit like no They do not. They do not. They did not have the songs and they said they sing songy shit. Like, come on, man. You're still doing this, this little half thing in flow. It works better when you're younger and your voice is better. But when you can't sing when you like, you know, in your early 50s And you still hate rapping and shit, like corrupt don't need to do this dance don't need to do this. Like what? Y'all should be successful on your own? It's like one of the things when you have to um, my store shit and your store shit. When we put our store together we got a fighting chance. You don't have to do this. You got to be successful on your own like, is this gonna be like a like, like a one album collaboration? Who's gonna listen to that? Nobody. We just we just talked about everybody on the football line of people like are like I don't know who these people are. You think to go listen to a fucking Bone Thugs and dog crime album.

Jeff:

I mean, that should be fit. It's something that's like a trend now like people that ain't really doing shit. Or you know, ain't got nothing going on. He's just gonna get together. What was the last supergroup that we said? vato and who was a member of three dues?

Anthony:

I don't because I didn't care about the VIN and I don't care like like bado fan was a fan was Dave east. It was me know something like that. I don't know who it was but

Jeff:

like it's just random people that ain't really doing shit right now that are not really relevant. And they just go and get together

Anthony:

Stress in the city, the cops is hot for me The projects is full of bullets Though bodies is droppin' there ain't no stoppin' me Constantly movin' while makin' millions Witnessin' killings, leavin' dead bodies in abandoned buildings Can't reach the children, 'cause they're illin' Addicted to killin' and the appeal from the cap peelin' Without feelin', but will they last or be blasted? Unless we're shootin', no one notices the youth It's just me against the world, baby
